Activation
How to activate your FreeCall Wireless phone
Phones from us arrive with the SIM installed. Charge the phone, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi if you have it, and follow the setup steps. Make a test call and send a text. If you are keeping your number, wait until the transfer completes before using your old phone.
SIM activation
Power off your phone, insert the FreeCall Wireless SIM with the gold contacts facing down, power on and wait for signal bars. Restart once if the network name does not appear. Call us if you see "No SIM" or "SOS only" after 15 minutes.
eSIM activation
Connect to Wi-Fi. On iPhone open Settings, Cellular, Add eSIM; on Android open Settings, Connections or Network, SIM manager, Add eSIM. Scan the QR code we send and follow the prompts. Keep the QR code private.
Number transfer (porting)
Give us your current number, account number and transfer PIN from your old provider. Keep the old service active until the transfer completes, usually within a day. See Keep Your Number.
Activation troubleshooting
Restart the phone, check that airplane mode is off, and confirm the SIM is seated correctly. Make sure the phone shows our network name. If calls work but data does not, see APN settings. Still stuck? Call us.
APN settings
Android APN settings
Open Settings, Connections or Network & internet, Mobile networks, Access Point Names. Choose Add or the menu, enter the values below, save, and select the new APN.

iPhone APN settings
iPhones normally receive settings automatically. If needed, open Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Network and enter the values from the Android APN settings article above. If the option is missing, the settings are managed automatically.
MMS (picture message) settings
Turn on mobile data and MMS messaging (iPhone: Settings, Messages, MMS Messaging). MMS needs the MMSC and proxy values in your APN settings. Pictures will not send over Wi-Fi only on some phones.
Data troubleshooting
Check that mobile data is on, airplane mode is off and you have high-speed data left in My Account. Restart the phone, reset network settings if needed, and confirm the APN. Data may be slow in crowded areas or indoors.
eSIM
eSIM compatible devices
Most iPhones from the iPhone XR and XS onward support eSIM, as do many newer Android phones. Check Settings for an "Add eSIM" option, or call us with your model to confirm.
eSIM installation
Use Wi-Fi, scan the QR code from your activation email, and label the line "FreeCall". Do not delete an eSIM unless we ask you to; a deleted eSIM needs a new QR code.
eSIM troubleshooting
If the QR code fails, check the time and date settings, restart, and try again on Wi-Fi. If you see "Cellular plan cannot be added", the phone may be locked to another carrier.
Voicemail
Setting up voicemail
Press and hold 1 on the dial pad (or tap Voicemail on iPhone) and follow the prompts to create a password and record a greeting.
Checking voicemail
Press and hold 1, or call your own number and press the star key when the greeting plays, then enter your password.
Voicemail password
Choose a password you do not use elsewhere. If you forget it, call us and we will reset it after verifying your identity.
Visual voicemail
Visual voicemail lets you see messages as a list. Availability depends on your phone and network; ask us whether it is available on your device.
Lost or stolen phone
Suspend service
Call (918) 931-0991 right away. We suspend your line so no one can use it, and we can restore it when you get a replacement.
Protect your account
Change your account PIN and passwords for email and banking apps. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) to lock or erase the phone remotely.
Replace your SIM or eSIM
We can send a new SIM or a new eSIM QR code after verifying your identity. Your number stays the same.
Device replacement
Ask about replacement options or upgrade your phone. Lifeline customers keep their benefit on a replacement phone.
Report a stolen device
File a police report and give us the report number. We can block the phone's IMEI so it cannot be used on U.S. networks.
Unlocking and account considerations
Phones reported lost or stolen are not eligible for unlocking. See our unlocking policy.

SIM card
Your SIM connects your phone to our network. Keep it in the phone, and ask us for a replacement if it is damaged.
Wi-Fi calling
Turn on Wi-Fi calling to make calls over Wi-Fi where signal is weak (iPhone: Settings, Phone, Wi-Fi Calling; Android: Settings, Connections, Wi-Fi Calling). Add your emergency address when asked.
5G
5G works on 5G phones in areas with 5G coverage. Your phone switches to 4G LTE automatically elsewhere. See coverage.
Data usage
Video and app updates use the most data. Use Wi-Fi for streaming and updates, turn off auto-play, and check your balance in My Account.
Phone compatibility
Unlocked phones that support 4G LTE with VoLTE usually work. See Bring Your Own Phone.
Billing
Lifeline service has no monthly bill for eligible customers. Prepaid plans, top-ups and co-pays are paid in advance, and receipts appear in My Account.
Top-ups
Add data or minutes anytime on Add Minutes & Data. Add-ons apply after payment.
Account login
Sign in on My Account with the email or phone number on your account.
Password reset
Use password help on My Account. We verify your identity before resetting access.
