Free Phone When You Switch your Lifeline to us

Unhappy with your current Lifeline provider? Move your benefit to FreeCall Wireless, keep your number and get a new phone.

Quick answer

Can I get a free phone when I switch Lifeline providers?

Yes. If you already have Lifeline with another company, you can transfer your benefit to FreeCall Wireless at any time and get a free phone when you switch. You keep your phone number, your eligibility carries over, and your new phone ships at no cost.

  • Keep your number
  • No new proof in most cases
  • New phone ships free

Why switch your Lifeline provider?

Your Lifeline benefit belongs to your household, not to your provider. If your phone is old, your coverage is weak, or you cannot reach customer service, you can move your benefit. Common reasons people switch to FreeCall Wireless:

A newer phone

5G Android phones free, iPhones free or discounted.

How does a Lifeline transfer work?

  1. 1

    Apply with FreeCall Wireless

Choose "I already have Lifeline" in the application and pick your new phone.

  2. 2

    We request the transfer

With your consent, we move your benefit in the national database. Your eligibility usually carries over.

  3. 3

    Port your number

Give us your current account number and transfer PIN so we can keep your number.

  4. 4

    Activate your new phone

When it arrives, turn it on. Your old service ends automatically.

You must confirm that you want to transfer. Providers are not allowed to switch you without your consent. You will only ever have one Lifeline benefit at a time.

Are there limits on switching?

You can transfer your Lifeline benefit to another provider at any time. A few things to know:

  • If your current provider gave you a phone with a co-pay agreement, check its terms before you switch.
  • If your recertification is due soon, finish it with your current provider or with us after the transfer.
  • Tribal enhanced benefits move with you if you still live on qualifying Tribal lands.

What do I need to switch?

  • Your name, address and date of birth as listed on your current Lifeline account
  • Your current phone number
  • Your account number and transfer or port-out PIN from your current provider
  • Your consent to transfer

Will my old phone still work after I switch?

Phones given out by other Lifeline providers are often locked to that provider, so they usually will not work on our network. That is why switching includes a new phone. If your old phone is unlocked, you can choose to bring it instead and receive a free SIM card.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch from Assurance, SafeLink or another provider?

Yes. You can transfer your Lifeline benefit from any provider to FreeCall Wireless.

No. Switching your Lifeline provider and keeping your number are free.
